Street Dance of China

Recently, there are many dancing competed shows in China, and they invite stars as juries in order to attract people’s attention. These dancing shows are all about the street dance. and because of their high exposure rate, a lot of dancers take part in. Among these dancing competed shows, there are two did successfully. One is hot-blood dance crew, and four juries in this show are young and three of them come from korean groups. Another one is Street Dance of China. This dancing show also has four juries, and these four juries are in different decade, which could represent all people’s taste. For me, I really like Street Dance of China.

The Street Dance of China has two seasons, and season two is playing now. For season one, the juries are Show Luo, Geng Han, Zitao Huang and Qianxi Yiyang. Show Luo is the most famous one, and he debuted in 1994. In 2003, Show produced his first album named Show Time. In this album, he had a chance to show his dancing skills. Show Time had high sales volume and Show got a lot of fans. In 2005, he held his first vocal concert, and he became the first pop singer had concert in Taipei Arena. And the most important one decided his dancing status is Speshow. In that MV, Show tries several different types of dance. For instance, hip pop, locking and entertainment style coming from L.A. Also, he tried chair dance which was difficult for him. But he practiced a lot and finally did that. And in order to do well in Speshow, Luo did research from Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson with his teachers. And they tried to find some style of dance. They want to do creation. Hard work pays off. The Speshow was popular and because of his great performance in this MV, Luo was called the Asian dancing king. Additionally, he the oldest among these four juries, so he is always called “OG” (who is  incredibly exceptional, authentic). There are many competitors in Street Dance of China want to join his team.

Geng Han graduated from Minzu University of China, and his major is dance. Minzu university of China has a high enter level and it transfers a lot of talents in different fields, including political circles, business circles and also entertainment circles. It is difficult for people to be admitted to this university, but Geng Han did. And during his study career, he spent most of his time dancing and doing performance in different countries, like U.S. and Russia. In 2001, Geng Han took part in an competition named H.O.T.China Audition Casting held by S.W.Entertainment which is top four entertainment companies in Korea. This action completely changed his life. He was selected and trained in S.M.. After around three years, Geng Han became officially public artist was 2005. Geng Han is the first chinese star officially debuted with Korean group, Super Junior. Geng Han worked really hard and he became of the group leader of Super Junior-M, which was difficult for a chinese to do that. Korean entertainment companies take always take dance skills as the most important one. So Geng Han made a leap of dancing there.

Zitao Huang studied Chinese Kung Fu when he was five years old. When he does performance, he always adds some Kung Fu style and combine it with dance. So Zitao has his unique dancing style and impresses a lot people. Zitao also has a similar experience of Geng. He debuted in Korea with a group named EXO. EXO setted trend and during my middle school year, they were the hottest topic. Therefore, Zitao became popular at that time. Zitao is outspoken and straightforward. And these personalities attract a lot of people to pay attention to him and some top dancers want to join his team. For instance, Viho, a popper who won a champion on SuperFunky Vol.2, promised he must joined Zitao’s team and he did.

Qianxi Yiyang, the youngest one in these juries, and he was born in 2000. However, for my own perspective, he is best one among juries. Qianxi studied dance when he was three or four years old. He tried breaking, popping, locking and urban dance. At the beginning of the Street Dance of China, a lot of participants doubted that Qianxi does not qualify as a jury since everyone thought he was an idol. But with programs recording, none of them look down upon Qianxi. In Street Dance of China, he showed how professional he was. He could learn dance after seeing one time. And his body attack and body balance were also impressive. After seeing his performance, some OGs really wanted to join his team. One of them named Liangliang, asked his student, Yu Han choose Qianxi’s team with him. Finally, Yu Han got the champion, which meant that Qianxi won in this competition show.

There is another jury which I have to mention from season 2. He is VanNess Wu. He was born in California. And in 2001, he became well-known because of Meteor Garden. Since VanNess grown in U.S., he has already seen a lot of international top dancers. So his standards are really high and make participants nervous. In season 2, Bo Gao joined his team. Bo Gao is a legend of Chinese street dance. He leads street dancing style entered China. He also is a founder of KOD (international dance competition).
